For This Purpose #1
For this Purpose #1
“But arise and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in which I will appear unto thee” [Acts 26:16].
To lay a little ground work, this was said to Paul after he was born again. The same thing Jesus is still say in to us today after we are born again. If we remember Paul was named Saul from his mother’s womb. He was likely raised well- to -do. He was well educated and held high rank in his political and religious position.
When this belief of Jesus Christ rose up the Jews were very much against it, as they are today. They tried to stamp it out and Saul was a big part of it. He was standing there when Steven was stoned to death and oversaw it, he was much the cause of many Christians being put to death. One day a great light of the from heaven shown round-a- bout him, he fell unto the ground [slain of the Spirit]. Acts 22:7. Just as the disciples went backward and fell to the ground in John 18;6. Even as John said” And when I saw Him, I fell at his feet as dead. [Revelation 1:17]. Letting us know that no one can be too bad for God to call them and also when the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon us , sometimes the fleshly body cannot stand. The Spirit is more powerful than the flesh. Many things happened as Saul grew and matured in the Lord, even his name was changed from Saul to Paul in Chapter 13.The Jews were upset with Him because He was involved with this Jesus sect also some of the Jesus people couldn’t get over the fact that Paul had been involved in the killing of many Christians.
When a person really gets born again today and they make the change of-- “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Christ Jesus” [2Cor.5:17-18]. The thing is, some are like some of those back in the Bible, they want fire insurance and not the true Jesus, not His lifestyle. Paul wanted it all and he became the person God used to write about two thirds of the New Testament.
When He was called he was told to “Arise". That is our first call, to come up out of the evil world where we were living or, I call it “Just existing.” Without Jesus there is no “Life.” He said ”I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. None comes to the father but by Me! Next was said “Stand upon your feet.” We no longer bow to the world and its ways. Our life takes on a new atmosphere; we are now King’s Kids. Nothing of our self, but Christ now lives in us. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” [Phil.4:13]. Jesus said "I have appeared unto you for this purpose.” God has a purpose for each of us, He knew us before the world began, He formed us in our mother’s womb, He has a plan for every unborn and born baby. Watch this “To make thee a minister and a witness of these things which thou hast seen.” Not everyone will be a pastor, preacher, evangelist, set in the church organization but we will tell people about our relationship with Jesus. We can’t help it, it is too wonderful to keep it a secret. He said “and all those things I will shoe unto you.” Wow! He is not through yet! Don’t you want to get in on this? Maybe you need to invite Jesus into your heart. Maybe you just need to Arise! Stand up and start acting like the King’s Kid you are. “All For This Purpose.”
